Job summary

Cooper Parry is seeking a Tax Trainee to start January 2027 in Derby. You will work in small teams to understand client needs and advise on how to help them achieve their goals while progressing toward qualification as an accountant.

Throughout the three-year pathway you will study for ACA/CTA or ATT/CTA and receive on-the-job training, with support from colleagues, Managers and a dedicated Student Support Manager.

Qualifications

• Completed degree and 3 A Levels BBC requirement.
• Ability to balance studies with work and commitments.
• Interest in Tax and client advisory work.

Responsibilities

• Turn complex jargon into actionable guidance for clients.
• Prepare and submit clients' tax returns and ensure compliance.
• Liaise with HMRC to obtain reliefs and respond to inquiries.
• Generate ideas to enhance our client offering and stay updated on legislation.

About the role...

Looking to start your Tax career in 2027? Do you have a love of numbers, analytics and problem solving? Do you love building relationships?

Whether you've just completed your degree or just had some time out – our pathway can help you work towards being a qualified accountant!

As a Tax Trainee, you will work within small teams to really understand our clients and what they want to achieve and advise them on how to get there.

Role to start January 2027, with interviews taking place in November.

About the day to day…

• Turning complex jargon into simple terms and actions for our brilliant clients

• Making sure our clients are compliant by preparing and submitting their tax returns

• Liaising with HMRC around tax returns and gaining tax reliefs

• Generating new ideas, solutions and spotting opportunities to enhance our client offering

• Keeping up to date with changes to legislation and the impact they may have on our clients

Alongside the day-to-day, you will also study for your ACA/CTA or ATT/CTA Qualification through attending college courses and on the job training.

The pathway to qualification takes around 3 years if you’re a Graduate and you’ll be supported along the way by your colleagues, Managers and our dedicated Student Support Manager.
