What you'll be doing:

  Handling the preparation and timely submission of PAYE and VAT returns.

  Monitoring and interpreting updates to tax laws, applying them effectively to business practices.

  Advising cross-functional teams on payroll tax, VAT, and broader compliance issues.
• 
  Reconciling tax data, identifying discrepancies, and driving resolutions through audits.
• 
  Supporting financial reporting processes and ensuring accurate tax accounting.
• 
  Liaising with tax authorities and external advisors to manage risks and ensure efficiency.
• 
  Championing best practices in compliance, process improvement, and internal controls.
• 
  Leading initiatives to enhance tax processes, reduce inefficiencies, and improve reporting outcomes.
• 
  Taking ownership of risk management and compliance training within your remit.

The skills and experience you'll bring:

• 
  CTA qualification is highly regarded; ACA or ACCA with a tax specialism is ideal.
• 
  Deep understanding of UK tax law and HMRC procedures.
• 
  Hands-on experience with VAT, PAYE, and corporate tax compliance.
• 
  Confidence using tools like Alphatax, CCH, or equivalent platforms.
• 
  Proficient in Excel and able to distil complex data into actionable insight.
• 
  A proactive mindset with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
