Job Description:

NEW GROUND WON’T BREAK ITSELF

This is an exciting opportunity to join the GT tax team that advises businesses and their owners on significant transactions. This role is purely advisory, with no compliance responsibilities.

You will work on a variety of interesting projects, including tax structuring for trade sales, private equity investments, management buyouts, IPOs, carve-outs/demergers, and related planning.

This position may suit you if you have experience advising shareholders and their companies on transactions, whether you come from a corporate or private client tax background (our team includes members from both areas).

You will benefit from working with approachable, friendly colleagues in a supportive culture that emphasizes exceptional client service, technical excellence, and a practical, commercial approach.

This role is within our GT Private South & London team, which handles transactions as described above and traditional private client advice for high-net-worth individuals. There is flexibility to work across both areas if interested.

About the Role

  • Provide expert tax advice to mid-market businesses and their shareholders.
  • Advise on tax implications and structuring of acquisitions, disposals, and business separations.
  • Build trust with clients by delivering high-quality, accurate tax advice on time.
  • Lead client engagements and serve as the primary contact, coordinating with the Private and wider Tax teams.
  • Support the development of junior team members, understanding their career goals.
  • Lead and participate in client meetings, confidently addressing queries.
  • Offer innovative solutions to clients’ tax issues and identify cross-selling opportunities within the GT network.

Candidate Requirements

To join as an Associate Director in Private Tax, you need:

  • A professional qualification (CTA / ACA / ACCA or equivalent).
  • Confidence advising clients on complex tax matters, including transactional experience.
  • A strong interest in personal and team development.

Additional desirable skills include:

  • Building your professional profile externally.
  • Experience in business development and proposal writing.
