Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join part of the GT tax team that focuses on advising businesses and their owners on significant transactions.

This is an advisory-only role, with no compliance involved.

You will work on a variety of interesting projects, such as tax structuring of trade sales, private equity investments, management buyouts, IPOs, carve-outs/demergers, and related planning.

This role may suit you if you have experience advising shareholders and their companies on transactions, whether your background is primarily in corporate or private client tax.

You will benefit from working in a team of approachable, friendly people with a supportive culture. The team maintains this culture while delivering exceptional client service through technical excellence and a practical, commercial approach.

The role is within our GT Private South & London team, covering transactions and traditional private client advice for high-net-worth individuals, with flexibility to work across both areas.

Role overview

As an Associate Director in our Private Advisory Tax team, you will:

  1. Provide expert tax advice to mid-market businesses and their shareholders.
  2. Advise on tax implications and structuring of acquisitions, disposals, and business separations.
  3. Build trust and respect from clients by delivering high-quality advice accurately and on time.
  4. Lead client projects and serve as the main contact, coordinating with the Private and wider Tax teams.
  5. Support the development of junior team members, understanding their career goals.
  6. Lead client meetings, confidently addressing queries.
  7. Offer innovative solutions to clients' tax issues and promote cross-selling of services within the GT network.

Candidate requirements

The minimum criteria to join as an Associate Director are:

  1. A professional qualification (CTA / ACA / ACCA or equivalent).
  2. Confidence advising on complex tax matters, including transaction experience.
  3. Interest in personal and team development.

Additional skills that are a plus but not mandatory include:

  1. Building your profile externally.
  2. Business development and proposal writing experience.
