Job Description:

NEW GROUND WON’T BREAK ITSELF

This is an exciting opportunity to join the GT tax team that focuses on advising businesses and their owners on significant transactions.

This is an advisory-only role, with no compliance involved.

You will work on a variety of interesting projects, such as tax structuring for trade sales, private equity investments, management buyouts, initial public offerings, carve-outs/demergers, and related planning.

This role may suit you if you have some experience advising shareholders and their companies on transactions, whether from a corporate or private client tax background (we have team members from both backgrounds).

You will benefit from working with approachable, friendly colleagues in a supportive culture. Our team maintains this culture while delivering exceptional client service through technical excellence and a practical, commercial approach.

The role is within our GT Private South & London team, covering transactions as mentioned and traditional private client advice for high-net-worth individuals. There is flexibility to work across both areas if interested.

About the role

As an Associate Director in our Private Advisory Tax team, you will:

  • Provide expert tax advice to mid-market businesses and their shareholders
  • Advise on tax implications and structuring of acquisitions, disposals, and business separations
  • Build trust with clients by delivering high-quality tax advice accurately and on time
  • Lead client engagements and act as the primary contact, coordinating with the Private and wider Tax teams
  • Develop and support junior team members, understanding their career goals
  • Participate actively in client meetings, confidently addressing queries
  • Offer innovative solutions to clients' tax issues proactively and cross-sell other services within the GT network
Candidate criteria

Minimum requirements include:

  • A professional qualification (CTA / ACA / ACCA or equivalent)
  • Confidence advising on complex tax matters, including transactions
  • Interest in developing yourself and others

Preferred skills (not mandatory) include:

  • Building your profile externally
  • Business development and proposal writing experience

Beyond work, we support your passions and personal development, aiming to create a fulfilling and balanced life for our team members.
