Tax Assistant Manager – Global Mobility Services
Base Location: North of England / Midlands / South of England / London with a network of 20 offices nationwide.

Our GMS engagement teams are “360-degree service oriented”, with tax technical, team leadership, and client-facing responsibilities as part of each successful manager’s remit.
You’ll advise on complex people challenges, including future of work trends such as cross-border working, remote working, and virtual assignments. Working alongside multi-disciplinary experts, such as tax, technology, immigration, and mobility administration services, and using some of the best technology solutions in the market, you’ll have the support and tools to create opportunities for our clients – and for your career.
What will you be doing?
- Building and maintaining good relationships with clients.
- Being the day-to-day contact for allocated clients.
- Review of tax returns, and preparation/review of Income Tax/NIC calculations.
- Conduct arrival/departure briefings.
- Contributing to client service teams, helping ensure they function smoothly and effectively.
- Preparation of written advice for clients and helping to advise clients on GMS issues.
- Project management of advisory projects carried out for clients.
- Ensuring clients are provided with up-to-date information on GMS developments.
- Involvement in business development/proposals.
- Managing and coaching more junior staff.
- Working with large clients/mid-size clients.
What will you need to do it?
- ATT qualified or equivalent professional qualification.
- International tax services experience with UK Expat tax background, including tax briefings, tax returns, and advising clients.
- Experience managing global assignee populations and familiarity with immigration, social security, and compensation across different countries.
- Energetic, committed, and ambitious.
- High level of personal responsibility and accountability for own work.
- Capacity to receive positive, constructive feedback.
- Analytical skills; able to identify core issues, investigate, evaluate, and synthesize information.
- Effective communication skills, both in speech and writing, in an open, honest, and clear manner.
- Ability to safeguard and enhance KPMG’s reputation through quality work and expertise.
- Passion for the international aspects of our work, professional proficiency, and leadership in global service teams.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Flexible, positive outlook, and team-oriented.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and apply knowledge to non-routine situations.
- Sound professional judgment, with the ability to identify issues and consult with senior staff as needed.
