Job description

Our client - a leading accountancy practice in Ayrshire, who provide a wide range of tax, audit and advisory services to businesses and individuals, are looking to expand their tax team by hiring a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Assistant.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist with the preparation and filing of tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and companies in accordance with UK tax legislation.
  2. Prepare tax computations, schedules, and related documents.
  3. Assist with client queries and provide tax-related advice under the supervision of senior tax team members.
  4. Help maintain accurate records and ensure timely submission of tax filings.
  5. Support with the preparation of quarterly and annual tax provisions.
  6. Assist in providing tax documentation and support during client meetings.
  7. Stay updated on changes in tax regulations, ensuring compliance with the latest developments.
  8. Perform general administrative tasks, including managing client correspondence and maintaining tax filing systems.
Requirements:
  1. Previous experience within an accountancy practice or a tax-related role.
  2. ATT qualified or part qualified. (Qualified by experience would also be considered) Study support is available.
  3. Strong understanding of UK tax laws, including income tax, corporate tax, VAT, and other tax-related matters.
  4. Attention to detail and high levels of accuracy in preparing tax documentation.
  5. Excellent organisation and time management skills.
  6. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with clients and colleagues effectively.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and tax software packages.
  8. Enthusiasm for learning and growing within the tax profession.
  9. A proactive approach to problem-solving.
  10. A team player able to work closely with senior team members.
  11. A can-do attitude and an eagerness to learn from an experienced team.

This is a full-time permanent role which offers a fantastic career opportunity. The position will be office-based, Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm. (Additional hours may be required during busy periods).
