Job summary

Adjacency Recruitment Limited is working with an established Cheltenham-based firm of accountants, tax and business advisors that is expanding its team to hire a Tax Assistant/Senior, depending on experience.

You will manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, prepare Self-assessment returns, and support HMRC enquiries, with a friendly, team-oriented culture and hybrid working (3 days in the Cheltenham office).

Qualifications

• Experience in personal tax within a UK accountancy practice is required (1–2 years).
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of personal tax clients (HNWI, business owners, sole traders, partnerships).
• Preparing Self-assessment tax returns ensuring HMRC compliance.
• Assisting with HMRC enquiries and liaising with clients to resolve tax matters.

Job description

We are working with an established firm of accountants, tax and business advisors based in Cheltenham. They are expanding their team and looking for a Tax Assistant/Senior, dependent on experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of personal tax clients, including HNWI, business owners, sole traders and partnerships.
• Preparing Self-assessment tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC regulations.
• Assisting with HMRC enquires and liaising with clients to resolve tax related matters.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a people-oriented approach
• Experience with tax software such as Digita or similar

What We Are Looking For?

• A-levels or equivalent, good grades in Maths and English GCSE and excellent written and verbal skills
• Previous personal Tax experience within a UK accountancy Practice. (1-2 years)
• May be studying for ATT, but not a requirement
• Experience of working within a personal tax environment in practice
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently
