Job description

In-house tax positions are very rare – time to pay attention!

I am recruiting for a large NI corporate that is seeking to expand its established in-house tax team. The role will initially focus on UK & ROI #TaxAccounting and #TaxCompliance.

This role could be suitable if you are a Qualified Accountant or Tax Professional and:

  • Have developed a strong knowledge base in tax and wish to specialise further,
  • Are recently qualified with confidence in accounting and double-entry skills,
  • Enjoy the technical challenges of working across different tax regimes,
  • Want to learn from experienced managers and take on more responsibilities over time,
  • Are eager to formulate plans and make recommendations to resolve tax issues.

I have extensive information and detailed specifications to share about this position.

The successful candidate will join a team of 5 led by a highly experienced Senior Manager committed to supporting and developing their team. This is a highly visible role offering exposure to critical business projects, working alongside colleagues and external advisors.

The Group Tax Team is responsible for delivering the Group’s Tax Strategy through compliance, planning, and accurate tax accounting. This newly created role is ideal for someone keen to develop technical tax skills essential for keeping the Group updated on new tax rules, assessing impacts, and advising on strategic decisions.

Reporting to the Tax Manager and supported by Trainees, the Tax Accountant will focus on tax compliance and accounting for the UK and ROI subsidiaries, engaging with internal finance teams and external advisors. You will ensure the accuracy of tax reporting, assist in improving tax systems and processes, and build relationships with key partners internally and externally.

This role suits a dedicated, motivated individual open to development and challenges, capable of collaborating with diverse stakeholders. A proactive, curious, and solutions-oriented approach is essential, with opportunities to study towards a recognised tax qualification if not already held.

What you’ll need

  • Recognised professional finance qualification (e.g., ACA / ACCA / CTA),
  • Experience in a busy tax compliance or accounting environment within a professional team,
  • Awareness of UK and ROI taxes and interest in international tax developments,
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and take responsibility,
  • Strong stakeholder relationship skills with effective communication,
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

This opportunity is with one of Northern Ireland’s most respected employers, known for excellent reviews, award-winning leadership, world-class L&D programmes, competitive salaries, and flexible/hybrid working (2 days in-office).

Salary is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. The company offers market-leading packages to successful candidates.
