Job description

In-house tax positions are very rare - time to pay attention!

I am recruiting for a very large NI corporate that is seeking to add to its already established in-house tax team, a new addition to the team that will initially take responsibility for UK & RoI #TaxAccounting and #TaxCompliance.

This role could be for you if you are a Qualified Accountant or Tax Professional and:

  1. You have developed a strong base of knowledge in tax and wish to specialise in this area,
  2. You are recently qualified and confident in your accounting and double-entry skills,
  3. You enjoy the technical challenge that working across tax regimes will present,
  4. You want to learn from experienced managers and take on more responsibility as your tenure extends,
  5. You would relish the opportunity to formulate plans and make recommendations to address tax problems.

I have much great information and background I can share on this position and highly detailed specifications.

The successful candidate will join an established team of 5 led by a highly experienced Senior Manager who takes great pride in supporting and developing their team. This is a highly visible role that will provide exposure to business-critical projects working with colleagues and external advisors.

The Group Tax Team is responsible for delivering the Group’s Tax Strategy through compliance, tax planning, and accurate tax accounting. This newly created role is suited for someone eager to develop technical skills crucial for keeping the Group updated on tax rules, assessing impacts, and advising on strategic decisions.

Reporting to the Tax Manager and supported by Trainees, the Tax Accountant will focus on tax compliance and accounting for the Group’s UK and ROI subsidiaries, engaging with finance teams and external advisors. You will ensure the integrity of UK and ROI tax reporting, assist in improving tax systems and processes, and build relationships across the Group and externally.

The role is ideal for a dedicated, motivated individual open to development and collaboration with diverse stakeholders. A proactive, curious, and solutions-oriented approach is essential. There is scope for growth, including the opportunity to study for a recognized tax qualification if not already held.

What you'll need
  • Recognized professional finance qualification (e.g., ACA / ACCA / CTA).
  • Experience in a busy tax compliance or accounting environment within a professional team.
  • Awareness of UK and ROI taxes and interest in international tax developments.
  • Ability to take responsibility and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong relationship-building skills through effective communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

This opportunity is with one of Northern Ireland's most respected employers, known for excellent reviews, award-winning leadership, world-class L&D programs, competitive salaries, and flexible/hybrid working (2 days in-office).

Salary is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. The company offers market-leading packages to successful candidates.
