What you'll do:As a Tax Accountant based in London, you will be at the heart of the organisation's finance function, responsible for managing comprehensive tax reporting and compliance activities across both UK and Irish entities. Your day-to-day will involve preparing detailed tax provisions during critical financial periods, reviewing financial statements for accuracy in disclosures, and providing expert advice on evolving tax standards as new products or business lines are launched. You will also take ownership of drafting corporation tax returns, handling VAT submissions-including complex partial exemption calculations-and ensuring all payments are made punctually. - Assist with the preparation of tax notes for all UK & Irish entities by reviewing draft financial statements to ensure accuracy of numbers and appropriateness of disclosures.
- Provide expert guidance on incorporating new tax disclosure requirements as new businesses or products are introduced into local entities.
- Maintain up-to-date awareness of changes in UK and Irish taxation laws, ensuring compliance across all relevant business units.
- Prepare all journal entries relating to corporation tax and VAT, including partial exemption calculations specific to financial services.
- Draft corporation tax returns for UK and Irish entities, responding promptly to queries from external advisors and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure timely calculation and payment of all relevant taxes, including preparation of VAT returns and the UK Bank Levy balance sheet.
- Support statutory reporting by collating information required for responses to enquiries from tax authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Own ad hoc local and global projects related to tax accounting, delivering results within demanding timelines while maintaining technical accuracy.
- Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders across finance teams in London, Dublin, Toronto, and other locations to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
