We are urgently recruiting for freelance Tamil interpreters based in Newcastle to work within various settings such as the NHS, Local Authorities, Police, Probation, and other public and private organizations.

• Telephone Interpreters
• Translators

Please note this is a self-employed position

Job Details

Interpretation involves listening to, understanding, and memorizing content in the source language, then reproducing it into the target language with 100% accuracy.

You will:

• Interpret for legal, health, and local government services
• Check the understanding of non-English speakers after each sentence
• Perform conference, consecutive, and public service interpreting
• Handle highly confidential information
• Liaise between service users and providers

Requirements

• Fluent in English and another language
• Right to work in the UK
• Age 21 or over
• Formal qualifications such as:
• Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI)
• Community Interpreting
• NRPSI, CIOL, ITI registration (advantageous)
• Degree in Translation/Interpreting/Languages
• Other interpreting-related qualifications
