Job summary

Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team is seeking skilled Composite Machinists for future fixed-term opportunities in the UK. You will produce precision carbon components and tooling using 5-axis CNC machinery, setting up from sheets and programmes, while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.

Applicants should have an apprenticeship or equivalent in toolmaking or machining, strong 5-axis CNC experience, and proficiency with PowerMill.

Qualifications

• Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in toolmaking, machining or related discipline.
• Proven competence setting and operating 5-axis CNC machines.
• Ability to work accurately to tight tolerances and deadlines.
• Good computer skills and ability to use set-up sheets and CNC programmes.
• Strong knowledge of Autodesk PowerMill or similar.

Responsibilities

• Producing precision carbon components, patterns and moulds to tight tolerances using 5-axis CNC machinery.
• Setting and operating CNC machinery from provided set-up sheets and programmes to manufacture car components, jigs, fixtures and tooling.
• Delivering high-quality machined components to demanding production schedules.
• Following defined processes to maintain quality.
• Contributing to process improvements to enhance quality and efficiency.
• Working safely and complying with health and safety requirements at all times.
• Working flexibly and supporting other areas of the department as priorities change.

The Role

Be a part of our 2027 build period and help machine precision components, patterns and tooling that contribute to performance in one of the world's most demanding engineering environments.

Composites is fundamental to Formula 1 and every component must be produced accurately, safely and consistently to support demanding production targets.

We are looking to connect with skilled Composite Machinists for future fixed-term contract opportunities. Whether you already work in motorsport or bring relevant experience from another high-performance manufacturing environment, we would be interested in hearing from you.
