Help us build the team shaping a plastic-free future.
About Shellworks:
Developed for a throwaway culture, plastics have caused significant pollution to our natural environments with 90% of all plastics ever created never being recycled. More so, recent studies have identified that plastics impact goes beyond pollution to chemicals and micro-plastics that impact human and environmental health.
We believe there must be a better way and our first innovation Vivomer does just that, if nature made a plastic this would be it. Vivomer, a polymer made by microorganisms, behaves just like plastic in use, but degrades upon disposal in any natural environment. Developed through cutting-edge material science, mechanical engineering, design, and operations, Vivomer represents a groundbreaking step towards a pollution-free future.
The nature of our work is frequently described as impossible, but if like us, you’re driven by the opportunity to prove that there is a better way to do things, join us.
About the Role:
We’re hiring across multiple functions, from material science to sales to brand, and we need a dedicated recruiter to keep the process moving. This is an execution-focused, individual contributor role and is a great fit for someone who’s been part of a startup or agency talent team and is ready to take full ownership of delivery for the first time with support, clear boundaries, and room to grow.
You won’t be expected to set Shellworks’ talent strategy - this role is about bringing momentum, structure, and consistency to hiring delivery. You’ll lead coordination, sourcing, and pipeline management for multiple open roles, working closely with hiring managers to ensure quality and speed. You’ll also have the opportunity to shape early careers outreach and, if time allows, contribute to wider people operations work.
What You’ll Be Doing
Own day-to-day recruitment delivery
- Partner with hiring managers to define role needs and hiring process
- Manage candidate pipelines in TeamTailor - from outreach through to offer
- Source candidates proactively, especially for hard-to-fill or technical roles
- Coordinate interviews, feedback, and offers, ensuring speed and consistency
- Improve and maintain hiring tools and templates (e.g. interview kits, trackers, scorecards)
Support talent systems and outreach
- Help build a repeatable and inclusive hiring process across Shellworks
- Run light-touch retros and suggest process improvements after each hire
- Experiment with early careers outreach (e.g. university or accelerator partnerships)
- Track key pipeline metrics and flag gaps or risks to founders/hiring managers
Optional stretch into people ops
- Support onboarding improvements or people process design
- Contribute to internal team planning, hiring forecasts, or employer brand assets
- Get exposure to performance, development, and culture projects as interest and capacity allows
Must haves - we'd love to hear from you if:
- You have 2-3 years’ experience in recruitment (agency or in-house)
- You’ve managed or supported hiring across varied functions or disciplines
- You’re comfortable sourcing, coordinating and delivering at pace
- You’re organised, detail oriented, and confident with tools and systems
- You enjoy learning by doing, and aren’t afraid to figure things out along the way
- You’re excited about sustainability and working with a curious, kind team
Nice to have’s - we'd love to hear from you even more if:
- You’ve worked in, or recruited for, startup or scaleup environments
- You’ve hired for technical or scientific roles (e.g., engineering, R&D, science)
- You’ve worked with tools like TeamTailor, Notion, or Greenhouse
- You’ve been involved in early careers hiring or outreach initiatives
What success looks like (6 months):
By month six, you’ll have:
- Closed 5-8 priority roles across multiple teams, with strong pipelines built
- Founder time spent on coordination cut in half
- Interview process feels smooth and consistent for candidates and hiring managers
- A few early wins in sourcing or outreach that boost quality and diversity of pipeline
- You’re seen as the go-to person for keeping hiring organised, consistent, and moving forward
