Job summary

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Band 3 administrator to support the Case Mix Programme data collection for the Critical Care and Theatres teams at Walsall Manor Hospital.

You will be responsible for the timely collection and validation of patient data, contributing to dashboards and quality reporting in a dynamic clinical environment. This role includes NHS pension benefits and potential staff accommodation where available.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English Language and Maths Grade C or above essential
  • NVQ 3 Business Administration or equivalent
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the accurate and timely data collection of all Critical Care related information
  • Facilitate the Trusts participation in the CMP (Case Mix Programme) as carried out by ICNARC
  • Promote the importance of audit and accurate data collection to the multi-disciplinary team
  • Respond to internal requests for information from the multi-disciplinary team and assist with the production of performance monitoring dashboards
  • Act as a link between the Ward Clerk team and ward management/nursing to ensure effective communications of issues
  • Support in the participation of the ICCQIP-BSI national surveillance programme alongside the clinical team

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300. It provides inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010, and ongoing upgrades ensure the Trust now has state-of-the-art facilities, including a Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit. A new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre, opened in March 2023, has significantly improved emergency care facilities and capacity, providing almost 5,000 square metres of additional clinical space.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Support in the participation of the ICCQIP-BSI national surveillance programme (Infection in Critical Care Quality Improvement Programme – Blood Stream Infection) alongside the clinical team
Person specification
Qualifications
  • GCSE English Language and Maths Grade C or above essential
  • NVQ 3 Business Administration or equivalent
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge and Experience
  • Significant experience in an admin and clerical role, with a significant amount of experience in a data quality or equivalent role.
  • Collation and evaluation of information, using a clinical information system for both data input and reporting
  • Experience in a critical care setting
  • Basic understanding of some medical terminology
Skills and Aptitudes
  • A solid grasp of using clinical information system
  • Ability to input and retrieve data accurately.
  • Demonstrates high level of accuracy, attention to detail and an understand of the importance of high quality data
