The Role
We are seeking an experienced Tableau Server Administrator to join our Technology and Digital Services team at Deloitte. You will support the existing Tableau Server platform used by over 120,000 users across 11 geographies, ensuring its optimal performance and operation. Support includes occasional planned out-of-hours maintenance (approximately 1 hour on a Saturday morning monthly) and unplanned maintenance as needed.
- Deep understanding of Tableau Server architecture, security, performance tuning, networking, firewall configuration, server maintenance, patching, backups, and disaster recovery.
- Scripting & Automation: Experience with scripting/development (e.g., PowerShell, Python, TabCMD) for automation.
- Tableau Desktop & Prep: Familiarity with Tableau Desktop for creating reports/dashboards and Tableau Prep.
- Collaboration & Communication: Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills to liaise effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Teamwork: Proven ability to work effectively within diverse teams.
- Azure Cloud Experience: Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, MFA, Conditional Access policies, and managing servers/virtual environments in Azure.
- BI & Data Skills: Experience with BI platforms (e.g., SAP BusinessObjects, Power BI), SQL, ETL, data modelling, and diverse data sources including SAP HANA.
- Tableau Tools: Knowledge of Tableau Resource Monitoring Tool (RMT) and Content Migration Tool.
- DevOps: Familiarity with Azure DevOps CI/CD processes.
- Web Development: Skills in HTML and CSS editing.
Responsibilities include:
- Server Administration: Administer, optimize, monitor, and troubleshoot the Tableau Server 2024.2 platform (Windows Server 2022), ensuring maximum uptime and performance. Includes load testing and infrastructure issue resolution.
- Security Management: Manage server security, including patching, upgrades, penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, security protocols, and authentication (SSO - SAML and OAuth).
- User Support: Provide technical support, guidance, and training to end-users; resolve connectivity issues and manage user access.
- Collaboration & Integration: Work with BI development teams on content promotion, best practices, system integrations, and content governance.
- Proactive Monitoring: Monitor server health, capacity, and resources to ensure stability.
- Content Management: Maintain and update web portal content and help pages.
