Job summary

Halfords Autocentres is seeking a Vehicle Technician to service and repair vehicles, with the opportunity to gain a DVSA MOT Tester licence through company-supported training.

In this busy centre you’ll diagnose faults, perform clutch/timing belt work, and, after qualification, carry out MOT tests to DVSA standards while contributing to outstanding customer safety on the road.

Qualifications

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years' Vehicle Technician/Mechanic experience in a workshop.
• Full driving licence with no more than 9 points.
• Willing to undertake MOT Tester training and qualification.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing and repair work, including complex items like clutch and timing belt changes.
• Perform diagnostic work on vehicle systems and components.
• Carry out MOT tests to DVSA standards after training and qualification.
• Contribute to safe, high-quality vehicle maintenance for customers.

• On-target earnings up to £41,240


• Comprising a base salary up to £34,640


• An uncapped monthly bonus scheme with average additional earnings of £6,600 per year.


• Funded MOT Tester qualification with salary uplift on completion


• 5 days a week (This centre is closed on Sundays)

Looking to take the next step in your career? Join Halfords Autocentres as a Vehicle Technician, where you’ll have the opportunity to gain your MOT Tester licence, if not currently held. We’ll support you through this qualification, with a salary increase available on successful completion

As a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic, you'll already be skilled in servicing and repair/replacement work. You'll have the ability to carry out more complex tasks such as clutch and timing belt replacements and diagnostics across vehicle electrical, braking, steering and suspension systems.

Once qualified, you'll also carry out MOT tests to DVSA standards and complete a wide range of vehicle maintenance and repair work. From advanced diagnostics and complex repairs through to routine servicing, you'll ensure every vehicle is maintained and repaired to the highest standard, helping to keep our customers safely on the road.
