Job summary

Halfords Autocentres in the UK is looking for a Vehicle Technician to join our team and work towards gaining an MOT Tester licence with salary uplift on completion. You can achieve on-target earnings up to £42,420 with a base salary of up to £36,620 and an uncapped monthly bonus scheme averaging £5,800 per year.

As a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic you’ll service and repair vehicles, perform diagnostics, and progress through training including MOT Tester qualification.

Qualifications

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years' Vehicle Technician/Mechanic experience in a workshop environment.
• Must have a full drivers licence with no more than 9 points.
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work and more complex repairs and replacements.
• Willing to undertake MOT Tester training & qualification.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing and repair work, including diagnostics and complex repairs.
• Carry out MOT tests to DVSA standards and routine maintenance.
• Support progression to MOT Tester training and ATA qualifications.

As a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic, you'll already be skilled in servicing and repair/replacement work. You'll have the ability to carry out more complex tasks such as clutch and timing belt replacements and diagnostics across vehicle electrical, braking, steering and suspension systems.

Once qualified, you'll also carry out MOT tests to DVSA standards and complete a wide range of vehicle maintenance and repair work. From advanced diagnostics and complex repairs through to routine servicing, you'll ensure every vehicle is maintained and repaired to the highest standard, helping to keep our customers safely on the road.
