Job description

Temporary post with external funding - subject to AFC. This role will lead on the strategic development, coordination, and quality assurance of T-Levels Industry Placements (IPs) across the Greater Manchester (GM) health and social care system and at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, in partnership with NHS Greater Manchester. The post-holder will source and coordinate a sustainable, joined-up placement infrastructure for all clinical and non-clinical placements across the GM system. The post-holder will facilitate and enhance support for T-Level healthcare learners (clinical and non-clinical) in various settings by identifying appropriate practice placements which offer effective learning opportunities. The post-holder is operationally and strategically accountable to the Trust, which will be accountable to NHS Greater Manchester and the Department for Education for its performance management and monitoring responsibilities.

  • Lead the strategic expansion of T-Level capacity throughout the GM system, engaging with relevant stakeholders to source industry placements (IPs) for clinical and non-clinical placements.
  • Maintain and enhance the quality of existing practice placements through collaboration with service providers and education providers, including profiling, audits, and developing joint strategic plans.
  • Build strong partnerships with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders, including NHS trusts, HEIs, FE Providers, ICS Northwest Leads, Local Authorities, and voluntary and community organisations. This will involve extensive travel across the northwest and GM footprint.
  • Ensure practice placements promote equality of opportunity, enabling all learners to participate in diverse learning experiences and share knowledge across professions.
  • Identify, support, and develop under-utilised placement areas to ensure a positive, sustainable learning environment, collaborating with key colleagues and organisations across the GM system.
  • Build and maintain a live record of the GM system's capacity to support IPs, developing this into a long-term process integrated with GM workforce considerations.
