Pearson has exciting Examiner opportunities for our T Level Qualifications.

What are T Levels?

T Levels are new courses starting in September 2020, following GCSEs and equivalent to three A levels. Developed in collaboration with employers, these two-year courses combine classroom learning with at least 45 days of industry placement, preparing students for skilled employment, further study, or higher apprenticeships.

T Levels: Finance – Examiner

The T Level Examiner role offers a flexible, part-time opportunity to earn extra income while developing your career in education. Examiners assess candidate responses according to a predefined mark scheme, adhering to the Code of Practice and examination procedures. Marking can be done onscreen via ePEN from home or via traditional paper scripts. A strong subject knowledge is essential. Each examiner will be allocated a specific number of scripts, and some travel may be required for training and standardisation.

Responsibilities

• Mark scripts accurately and consistently to maintain standards.
• Submit samples to your Team Leader as scheduled.
• Meet marking milestones.
• Complete all required administration.
• Attend standardisation sessions.
• Regularly mark scripts during the summer/autumn series.

Experience and Qualifications

• At least one year’s teaching and assessment experience or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or Business at Level 3.
• Degree or equivalent work-based qualification such as Level 5/6/7 NVQ in Accounting, Finance, or Business, or membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., ICAEW, CIMA, CIPFA).
• Knowledge of the T Level Accountancy specification and industry standards.

Desirable

• Qualified teacher status or equivalent qualification (e.g., Cert Ed, PTTLS, CTLLS, DTLLS, or Assessor/Verifier award).
• Recent occupational experience in areas like corporate finance, management accounting, forensic accounting, tax, or internal audit.

Competencies

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• High subject knowledge for applying the mark scheme.
• Effective team working and excellent communication skills.
