Raymond James Investment Services (RJIS) is looking to recruit a T&C Manager to join our Branch Supervision team. The role involves supervising a number of branches across the UK, ensuring adherence with Company policies and procedures, as well as applicable UK laws and regulations. The role requires extensive knowledge of the investment management space for UK private clients, and you will be expected to demonstrate the ability to provide T&C oversight to the branches / wealth managers under your supervision.
You will assist in the sign-off of new RJIS branches and will be expected to develop a close working relationship with the Branch Principals, understanding their business model, and providing guidance and direction to assist them in understanding and meeting regulatory requirements and those of RJIS, as well as assisting in branch development. You will have direct supervisory responsibility for the Branch Principals ensuring that they meet their own supervisory responsibilities for all branch personnel and activities.
This role is home-based, requiring regular visits to branch offices across the UK. Your principal area of responsibility will be the M4 / M40 corridor, and you will also be expected to make periodic trips to our Head Office in London.
- Responsible for supervising investment advisers registered with the FCA under RJIS’ authorisation.
- Responsible for the operation and development of the RJIS T&C Scheme and the maintenance of an appropriate record-keeping system.
- Input and advise in any decision to add a new branch or wealth manager as well as having powers to enforce disciplinary actions. Recommend termination of agreements, where required in conjunction with the Head of Wealth Management & Supervision.
- Make regular visits to branches to address T&C and business development, ensuring that branches are compliant with UK law, FCA regulations and RJIS requirements.
- Work with Branch Principals to ensure they and their staff are meeting their required CPD thresholds and maintaining their SPS.
- Monitor professional qualifications to ensure all certified individuals achieve and maintain minimum regulatory standards.
- Approve and supervise any increases in investment adviser/manager personal activities within a branch.
- Utilise output of MI and analytics reports to oversee branch investment activities and processes, in particular identifying trends and addressing these to ensure branch compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as RJIS policies and best practice standards.
- Thorough review of complaint logs and operational exception reports to ensure client service levels are being maintained and any issues addressed.
- Work with branches and internal teams to resolve query / complaint issues and ensure lessons learned within the branch are implemented where needed.
- Escalate issues as required, working with key stakeholders to develop appropriate responses and resolutions.
- Facilitate cooperation and communication between branches and the sharing of good practice.
- Work with the Compliance and oversight teams to help Branch Principals with any remedial action arising from monitoring, setting standards, deadlines and working with branch, following through to completion.
- Use internal/external resources to ensure the branch is appropriately trained on any regulatory components.
- Maintain and develop own CPD.
Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:
- Experience in, and knowledge of, the UK wealth management industry, in particular strong working knowledge of investment management solutions for retail clients.
- Understanding of UK Regulation for FCA authorised wealth management firms including knowledge of the FCA Handbook and understanding of applicable laws.
- T&C supervisory experience within wealth management.
- Working knowledge of MS Office.
- This role is deemed a Certification Function under the SMCR and you will be required to be certified, at least annually, by RJIS under the ‘Managers of certification staff’ function.
