Job description
Overview

Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust are recruiting for a Technical and Administration Officer working for the South Yorkshire Woodland Partnership. The post is supported and funded until the end of March 2026. Further funding for this and other posts are currently being developed.

Role and responsibilities

The post-holder will contribute primarily to the target of increasing woodland cover by 250 ha in South Yorkshire, by providing technical and administration support to the Programme Team. They will also support other similar projects as they arise.

The role will involve co-ordinating and updating the Project Pipeline to support the Delivery Team to track progress to their targets and manage case work. The post holder will set up systems to manage case files to ensure the team work effectively and provide excellent customer services. They will collate data and information to support the team in the submission of applications to various regulatory agencies, reports to funders or partners.

This role will also provide general administration support to the team, responding to enquiries from landowners, the public and partners, managing emails and answering phone calls. The work will involve engagement with a wide range of people and organisations, from private land owners, businesses, public bodies as well partners and other stakeholders.

Qualifications and requirements

To support this exciting programme, we are seeking an enthusiastic individual who can provide technical and administrative support to the small team. You will have 2 years’ experience in a similar role, with a Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject. Good data management as well as organisational skills would be beneficial as well as a willingness to learn. Attention to detail and accuracy will be important for taking minutes of meetings, preparing reports and purchase orders.

You will need to be positive, flexible and creative to respond to partners and the programme team when opportunities arise, and committed to the Partnership’s aims of woodland creation.
