Job description

My client is seeking an experienced systems support engineer to perform various night shift duties, including backups and batch processing, file transfers, proactive monitoring of both the network and physical components within their Data Centres, and the monitoring of incoming emails or alerts, with a view to raising out-of-hour incidents to the respective support group.

Candidates must have the following skills / experience:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, both written and verbally
  • Ability to work flexibly as part of a team & show initiative
  • Ability to balance competing priorities to meet conflicting deadlines
  • Ability to demonstrate good numeracy & literacy skills
  • Ability to respect sensitive and confidential data
  • Ability to follow written operational procedures
  • Responsibility to perform duties under the Council's H&S Policy
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and practice
  • Experience of developing and sustaining constructive working relationships
  • Understanding of and observation to the Council's Equal Opportunities Policy
  • Willingness to participate in training & development to ensure continuous development

Shifts currently cover 6 nights, from Sunday to Friday, 18:00 to 07:00 (37 hours over 3 nights).
