Job summary

Digital Waffle in Birmingham is seeking a capable developer to support live systems, implement improvements, and resolve complex production issues. You will work on workflow-driven case processing, investigate problems, and contribute to documentation and estimation to aid planning.

The role requires strong SQL Server skills, advanced T-SQL, and a proven ability to write clean, well-documented code. You will collaborate across teams to deliver changes reliably and adapt to changing priorities

Qualifications

• Experience with workflow driven business systems and rules-based behaviour.
• Experience supporting systems that manage cases, documents, and related data.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft SQL Server.
• Advanced T-SQL skills.
• Ability to write clean, efficient, readable and well documented code.
• Proven experience creating and implementing effective testing approaches.
• Experience of using code repositories.
• Skilled in optimising complex SQL statements for performance.
• Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on company’s success.
• Previous experience of helping to deliver work items accurately and on time.
• Critical thinker and strong problem-solving skills.
• A proven team player, who is able to support others and who can adapt to changing and conflicting priorities.

Responsibilities

• Working across live system support and delivery of planned system changes and improvements
• Investigate and resolve complex issues within live production environments
• Support workflow based case processing and rule-driven system behaviour
• Identify recurring issues and implement preventative system improvements
• Use SQL to understand system behaviour and implement controlled fixes
• Produce clear, maintainable documentation that supports the wider development lifecycle and operational processes
• Prepare accurate high-level and detailed estimates to support planning and delivery activities.
• Manage and progress multiple development tasks concurrently while maintaining quality and momentum.
• Build strong knowledge of the systems and applications you support, enabling effective troubleshooting and enhancement across internal and external platforms.
