- Set the strategy and direction of the requirements engineering for a highly complex, cutting edge project?

- Guide the internal and external stakeholders to establish and align the the customer needs and system requirements?

As the Requirements Lead , you will be responsible for shaping, developing and managing the GCAP stakeholder and internal requirements, throughout the requirement life cycle. The immediate focus will be on identifying, negotiating and prioritising requirements based on the ability to achieve long-term business, customer, and stakeholder goals. You will represent Leonardo at national and international working groups with customers, partners and other stakeholders.

Hand in hand with the stakeholder engagement, you will work with our modelling and architecture teams to develop detailed descriptions of system capability and functionality and communicate these throughout the GCAP programme as the requirements champion.

You will also lead the development of internal system, sub-system and partner requirement sets ensuring that the requirements reflect capabilities, as well as ensuring the requirements meet Leonardo quality standards around clarity, consistency and testability.

GCAP is an international endeavour and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to travel nationally and internationally to work with customers and colleagues in Italy and Japan. This means your communication, organisational and management skills will be just as vital as your technical skills.

Leonardo is a global high-tech company and one of the key players in Aerospace, Defence and Security. Headquartered in Italy, Leonardo has over 45,000 employees, of which 7,000 are UK-based, and has a significant industrial presence in four markets (Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States and Poland) as well as a network of strategic partnerships across the world.

Leonardo UK is pushing the technical boundaries associated with advanced tactical sensing, data fusion, communications, AI/ML, defensive aids systems and through life services, which collectively will enable Tempest to survive and operate in highly contested and congested threat environments.

This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to play a fundamental role in a defence programme of critical national importance, and to shape the future of Combat Air capability in the UK.

The primary work location is negotiable. Given the nature of the work, we are able to offer hybrid working but it is expected the majority of the work will be on-site.

You really must have:

We are looking for a systems thinker, someone with:

  • Experience in eliciting and managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Experience in creating and defining system and sub-system requirements
  • Experience with formal requirements management tools
  • Experience in managing and collaborating with external stakeholders on significant engineering matters requiring coordination between organizations.
  • Proven leadership and decision-making skills in a high complexity, dynamic environment at a senior level.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, proven ability to build trust and respect at different levels.
  • Experience of integration, with an understanding of the resultant issues, cost and schedule implications, and potential mitigations.
  • Ability to gain SC clearance.

It would be nice if you had:

  • Experience of different stages of the Product Lifecycle - Concept Design through to Integration and Test.
  • Experience in managing requirements in a model-based systems engineering environment
