Job DescriptionPlay a key role in shaping the future of
airborne sensor technology. Support the development of
next-gen radar and
electro-optical systems on a high-impact
defence programme. Contribute to
safety-critical, real-time platforms through
model-based design and full lifecycle
systems engineering.
This is a
hands-on, on-site role working on complex
mission systems used in national security applications. Join a
cross-functional team solving real-world problems in
radar,
tracking, and
targeting systems.
Location: Edinburgh
Clearance: Must be
SC Clearable (UK Passport or long-term residency required)
Experience Level: 5+ years
Key Responsibilities:- Define and manage system-level requirements using tools like DOORS
- Design high-performance system architectures using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques
- Model and simulate system behaviour using MATLAB, Simulink, or synthetic environments
- Support system integration, troubleshooting, and real-world validation
- Conduct Verification & Validation (V&V) activities across the full development lifecycle
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate mission needs into technical solutions
QualificationsRequired Skills:- Strong experience in systems engineering within defence, aerospace, or other high-integrity environments
- Hands-on use of MBSE tools such as DOORS, MATLAB, and Simulink
- Solid understanding of requirements definition, decomposition, and traceability
- Experience in system modelling, simulation, and performance analysis
- Familiarity with V&V processes using both simulation data and live trials
Required Qualifications:- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace, Electronics, or related discipline
OR - A technical background from UK Armed Forces or defence systems roles
- Must be eligible for UK SC Security Clearance (Minimum 5 Years in the UK)
Desirable Skills:- Knowledge of sensor fusion, signal processing, or data classification techniques
- Experience working on radar, electro-optics, or real-time embedded systems
- Understanding of safety-critical standards and systems engineering best practices
