Job summary

Octopus Energy Group's OEGEN Data, Tech & Transformation Team is evolving into a hybrid, AI-powered data-centric operation. You’ll integrate third‑party systems, internal apps and SharePoint into Databricks, then build reusable data products and AI workflows for fund, asset and finance teams.

You’ll prototype new AI capabilities, reuse existing Group capabilities, and codify playbooks for scalable, secure data services across OEGEN.

Qualifications

• Strong systems integration experience with REST/SDKs and authentication flows.
• Proven track record shipping data products or internal apps used daily.
• Solid Python and SQL skills used for automation and data modelling.
• Hands-on production cloud data platform experience (Databricks preferred).
• Experience integrating AI into real tools with a clear value focus.
• Identity and access management across environments without security team handholding.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 / SharePoint integration in enterprises.
• Ability to keep cloud/AI usage costs under control and attributed to teams.
• Pragmatic approach: configure existing capabilities before building anew.
• Clear, effective communication with both business and engineering.

Responsibilities

• Integrate business systems and data sources into Databricks via APIs and connectors.
• Build data products: well-modelled, reusable datasets for Excel, dashboards, and NLQ.
• Design and ship internal apps and AI-enabled tools for fund, asset, and finance teams.
• Prototype and productionise new AI capabilities, turning ideas into products.
• Collaborate with data platform and AI teams to reuse capabilities across OEGEN.
• Set up guardrails for security, access, and environment hygiene in Databricks.
• Manage cost tagging, budgets, alerts, and usage attribution for spend control.
• Credential AI usage with managed keys and secure patterns for embedding AI.
• Standardise internal apps: templates, authentication, deployment, and docs.
• Consolidate ad-hoc scripts into maintainable, supported integrations.
• Work with non-technical teams to translate problems into buildable solutions.
