The role of a Systems Integrations Software Engineer, Commercial Systems at Canonical

This engineering role offers an opportunity for a technologist passionate about Linux to build a career with Canonical and contribute to the success of those leveraging Ubuntu and open source products. If you have an affinity for open source development, you'll enjoy working with some of the best industry professionals at Canonical.

The Commercial Systems unit has responsibilities across six engineering teams, collaborating closely with other teams at Canonical. Services designed, developed, and operated by this unit are central to Canonical's business, with Salesforce playing an integral role.

The Integrations team aims to integrate all business systems used at Canonical to ensure reliable data flow and automate business processes. These systems include SaaS solutions like Salesforce, NetSuite, Greenhouse, GSuite, among others. We leverage Python and Go, along with open source tools such as Airbyte and Temporal, to achieve this, helping make data-driven decisions and increasing operational efficiency.

We seek new colleagues at all seniority levels who strive for high engineering quality, seek improvements, develop their skills, and apply them at work. This is an exciting opportunity to work with popular software systems, integration technologies, and open source solutions.

Location: This role is remote within the EMEA region.

What your day will look like

  • Design and deliver engineering solutions using Go, Python, and open source tools like Airbyte and Temporal
  • Collaborate on technical designs and code reviews
  • Deploy and operate team-developed services
  • Seek improvements in engineering and operational practices

What we are looking for in you

  • Experience as a Python software developer
  • Strong understanding of integration patterns
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Ability to work remotely with diverse teams, remaining motivated, productive, and organized
  • Willingness to travel internationally 2-4 times per year for about a week each time (destinations include New York, Seattle, London, Cape Town, Budapest, Berlin, Montreal, Brussels)

Additional skills that you might also bring

  • Experience in a high-level language like Go
  • Experience in business roles such as sales, finance, or operations
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related engineering field
