Job summary

Astute's Nuclear Team, partnering with a specialist Engineering Consultancy, is recruiting a Systems Engineer to support major civil nuclear and defence programmes across the UK.

The role offers a salary up to £70,000 DOE, hybrid working, and excellent progression opportunities within a challenging, high-impact environment.

Qualifications

  • STEM degree in Systems Engineering is required.
  • 4–12 years' experience in civil nuclear, defence, maritime or aviation systems engineering.
  • Strong experience in requirements engineering and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency with requirements tools such as DOORS, Cameo or Polarion.
  • Background in hardware-focused systems (mechanical, electro-mechanical, sensors, radar, data fusion).

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop concepts for complex systems solutions.
  • Develop, manage and deliver on system solutions according to stakeholder requirements.
  • Support design process engineering for mechanical and mixed-technology systems.
  • Conduct systems safety analysis and contribute to safety cases.
  • Lead systems integration and partitioning activities.
  • Evaluate system performance and support verification and validation.
  • Perform system integrity and resilience assessments.

Astute's Nuclear Team is proud to be partnering with a specialist Engineering Consultancy to recruit a Systems Engineer to support major civil nuclear and defence programmes across the UK. This role offers a salary of up to £70,000 dependant on experience, hybrid working, excellent progression opportunities, and the chance to work on some of the most complex engineering challenges in the sector. If you're an experienced Systems Engineer with a background in civil nuclear, defence, maritime, aviation or other complex engineering domains, and looking for a role delivering high?impact systems solutions.

Responsibilities and duties of the Systems Engineer role
