GE’s Power Conversion business and Storage, part of GE Vernova, provides electrification systems that are critical to customers’ power and energy needs for their high-performance applications. We work with some of the world’s major energy, maritime and industrial organizations, helping to enable a transition to energy efficiency and decarbonization, including through our specialist motors, drives and control technologies.
We have a fantastic opportunity for individuals to join us here as an engineering apprentice at GE Power Conversion and Storage. You will join an Advanced Apprenticeship Programme in our Marine Power Test Facility Engineering Department based in Whetstone. Working closely with other members in the department and the wider operations team, this is an excellent opportunity to work along experienced staff to gain job-specific knowledge from their expertise, earn money whilst attaining a recognised qualification and improve skills and technical knowledge in a wide range of areas.
Our apprentices follow a four-year training scheme. The first two years you will attend college for 2 days a week, and work on site 3 days a week. The first year will involve working alongside other apprentices in our Rotating Machines business in Rugby on core skills. During this time, you can expect to gain a thorough grounding in the key areas required for a career in modern engineering.
The following 3 years will consist of practical training in various engineering disciplines at our Marine Power Test Facility across all engineering elements including Power Systems / Mechanical Engineering, Automation, Commissioning & Test. This presents an excellent opportunity to develop both hands-on and design engineering skills and begin a career in systems engineering.
The successful candidates will be closely linked to a course of study which will, at a minimum, lead to the attainment of an NVQ Level 3 qualification.

Addressing the climate crisis is an urgent global priority and we take our responsibility seriously. That is our singular mission at GE Vernova: continuing to electrify the world while simultaneously working to help decarbonize it.
If we want our energy future to be different…we must be different.
Our mission is embedded in our name. We retain our treasured legacy, “GE,” in our name as an enduring and hard-earned badge of quality and ingenuity. “Ver” / “verde” signal Earth’s verdant and lush ecosystems. “Nova,” from the Latin “novus,” nods to a new, innovative era of lower carbon energy that GE Vernova will help deliver.
