The EES business unit has world class experts in the provision of real-time embedded systems, specialising in safety critical control systems. To continue to grow the business we are now looking for experienced Systems Engineers to join our growing team.
This opportunity is Marine working for one of the largest defence suppliers in the UK and is initially Hybrid at the client site based in Rochester (Kent). This opportunity is open to Engineers looking for Perm/Staff positions, as well as Contractors (Outside IR35) but in either case you must be prepared for travel to client location.
This Systems Engineering vacancy presents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to develop and grow their skills and knowledge within a thriving organisation. The job holder will be engaged in a wide variety of Systems Engineering activities covering the entire engineering lifecycle, including; systems definition, input to estimates and bid activities, requirements apportionment, systems architecting, integration, verification & validation, which will involve proactive interaction and communication with other Engineering and non-Engineering functions. Candidates with a good understanding of all aspects of Systems Engineering relating to lifecycle processes and methodologies should apply.
Responsibilities
- Systems Engineering
- Requirements and Use Case analysis
- Concept assessment and design trade studies
- System architecture design and functional modelling
- Performance assessment and systems behaviour analysis
- Verification, Validation and Certification
- Model based engineering techniques, including MBSE
- Project and Programmes Experience desirable
- Defence Sector Highly desirable
- Marine Sector highly desirable
- Fleet Operations desirable
- Modifications and configuration management
- Bid Management desirable
Qualifications
- Preferred, Incorporated or Chartered Engineer or have evidence of progress towards Professional Registration with a PEI.
- Experienced in Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environments.
Essential skills
- Experience of requirements definition, development and management of requirements through the course of projects.
- Verification, Validation and Certification experience
- Ability to breakdown conceptual models into individual sub-system & component models.
- Operate effectively on ambiguous early-stage projects.
Desired skills
MBSE experience a plus
Experience
- Practical, relevant experience in a product development environment performing similar roles.
- Expertise in requirements engineering and system architecture.
- Experience of applying system engineering toolsets and paradigms such as IBM DOORS, V & V, etc
- A good engineering degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline.
- Demonstrable requirements definition and management experience
- Demonstrable V&V / Certification experience
What do I need before I apply
- As this work is in the Defence industry a full valid Security Clearance is a prerequisite for this work, as is being a UK national (dual nationalities are not able to apply for this role due to restrictions on the contract placed by the MoD).
