Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Systems Engineer to join a defence project based in Bristol. The role is hands-on, taking systems from concept through to integration, testing and deployment within a highly secure environment.

You will translate requirements into deployed, operational solutions; support design, integration, verification and testing across the full lifecycle; and perform bring‑up, installation and commissioning on site. British nationals eligible for SC Clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in Systems Engineering, Systems Integration, Test & Integration, or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience across the system lifecycle: requirements, design, integration, and test & verification.
• Hands-on experience with hardware integration, system configuration and deployment, and networking.
• OS and application installation, and troubleshooting of complex technical issues.
• British National, eligible for SC Clearance, and able to work in a secure environment.

We’re recruiting for a Systems Engineer to join a team delivering complex, multidisciplinary training systems within a highly secure environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands‑on engineer who enjoys taking systems from concept through to integration, testing, and deployment. The role is focused on practical engineering and system integration rather than purely documentation‑based systems engineering.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Translating system requirements and architectures into deployed, operational solutions.
• Supporting requirements, design, integration, verification, and testing activities across the full system lifecycle.
• Integrating and configuring hardware, software, operating systems, peripherals, and networking infrastructure.
• Performing system bring‑up, installation, deployment, and commissioning activities.
• Executing system verification and validation testing.
• Diagnosing and resolving issues across hardware, software, and interfaces.
• Producing technical documentation to support deployment and operation of systems.
• Working on‑site during integration and deployment phases to ensure successful delivery.

What We’re Looking For

Experience in Systems Engineering, Systems Integration, Test & Integration, or a related engineering discipline.

Experience working across the system lifecycle, including:

Strong hands‑on experience with:
