Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United Kingdom seeks Systems Engineers to help implement innovative cloud computing solutions and operate AWS’s large cloud infrastructure, solving complex technical problems.

You will lead teams on critical AWS products, build distributed systems at scale, and mentor colleagues while focusing on reliability, automation, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Experience in site reliability engineering, systems engineering, systems administration, DevOps, security administration, or network administration.
• Experience working with Linux.
• Experience with Python, Java, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Bash, Shell or equivalent.

Role Overview

Help implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve complex technical problems by engineering and operating AWS’s large cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Our Systems Engineers lead teams as subject‑matter experts on multiple AWS services. They develop, build, deploy, operate, sustain, and grow services in cloud production environments, utilizing metrics to identify improvement opportunities and refining procedures for internal customers.

Systems Engineers Spend Time

Basic Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS and networking protocols.
• Experience designing and automating operational scripts and reviewing them for maintainability, scalability and security.
• Experience working in a 24/7 production environment.
• Experience with service‑oriented architecture and web services.
