Job summary

AWS EMEA SARL (UK Branch) is seeking a Systems Engineer to build and operate services for customers, automate service operations and deployment methods, and mentor junior team members. You will work in a large-scale, high-availability environment, focusing on cryptography, access and identity services, while driving efficiency and quality across our production systems.

As a Systems Engineer at Amazon you will utilize your Linux skills to troubleshoot, innovate fixes and workarounds, keep software up-to-date and provide data and metrics that help manage the capacity and efficiency of our services. You will draw on your networking knowledge to identity and troubleshoot network connectivity issues. You will recognize opportunities to build solutions to reduce manual toil across our organization. Basic Qualifications

• Experience in site reliability engineering (SRE), systems engineering, systems administration, DevOps, security administration, or network administration
• Experience working with Linux
• Experience in systems engineering
• Experience in any of the following: Python, Java, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Bash, Shell or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of TCP/IP and networking protocols such as HTTP and DNS
• Experience designing and developing scripts to automate operational burdens and reviewing scripting changes to ensure they meet the standards for maintainability, scalability and security
• Experience working in 24/7 production environment
• Experience with service-oriented architecture and web services
