Automation Engineer

Location: Northampton

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + bonus & allowances

Type: Permanent - FMCG

TXM Recruit has a fantastic opportunity for an engineer experienced in electrical or PLC disciplines to join this company as a Control Systems Engineer on a permanent basis.

For this Automation Engineer position, we are looking for someone with a background in high volume and fast-paced production lines, such as FMCG or packaging, coupled with skills in programming, updating, and fault finding within PLC, SCADA, and HMI software.

Our client is a global leader in engineering, can making, and industrial plant facilities with over 25 years of industry experience. An international business within a growing market, offering great opportunities to work across different sites and on global projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Program, update, and fault find within PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems.
  2. Develop applications for controls, instruments, and systems for industrial uses, including motors and conveyance systems.
  3. Direct and coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
  4. Participate in team project meetings, track project schedules, budgets, responsibilities, and coordinate with contractors.
  5. Travel both in the UK and globally, ranging from 30-40% of the year, typically in 2-week blocks.

Skills and Experience

  • BTEC Level 3 in general engineering or equivalent.
  • Certifications in networking and database management.
  • Experience with Rockwell and/or Siemens systems.
  • Process knowledge of P&ID’s is strongly preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience.
