Job summary

Advanced Resource Managers is seeking a Systems Engineer to support UK-based Defence customers with next-generation Voice Communication solutions in the Defence & National Security domain.

You will lead system build, integration and commissioning of on-premise solutions, configure systems to customer specs, and coordinate with global teams. Strong Linux (RHEL) and Cisco networking skills, plus VoIP integration, are essential.

Qualifications

• Engineering delivery in a mission-critical or military domain or a related degree.
• Experience building and configuring servers/workstations in a Linux environment (RHEL preferred).
• Familiarity with system installation tasks involving electrical/electronic/mechanical engineering knowledge.
• Defence/MOD domain experience and knowledge of Defence standards (Def-Stans, JSPs, SCIDA, etc.).
• Proven project delivery experience in fast-moving environments.
• Requirements engineering.
• Practical Cisco networking experience including Cisco IOS CLI.
• VoIP systems with Telephony/Radio integration.

Job description

An expanding Defence client of ours is currently in the market for a Systems Engineer to support a variety of UK-based customers with the next generation of Voice Communication solutions within the Defence & National Security domain.

Your Main Responsibilities

• System build, Integration, and Commissioning of On-Premise based solutions to their Defence customers.


• System configuration per customer requirements.


• Collaboration on design, implementation and delivery with a wide range of internal and external stake holders.


• Communicating with customers about technical issues


• System/Software troubleshooting and fault diagnosis/resolution - working with development teams to identify and resolve system issues.


• Inspecting and accepting products from sub suppliers and partners prior to implementation.


• Close coordination of tasks with local and international teams.


• Creating work instructions/work plans for use by projects


• Assisting with technical responses when there is a bid in progress.


• Assisting with technical training and user configuration training, sharing knowledge of the solution with the customer enabling them to fulfil the potential of the solution.

Your Experience

• Engineering Delivery within a mission-critical or military domain, or a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems, Electronics or Communications Engineering. (Essential)


• Recent experience of server and workstation build and configuration in a Linux (RHEL preferred) environment. (Essential)


• Familiarity with system installation tasks, including relevant electrical, electronics and mechanical engineering skills.


• Defence/MOD domain experience, including a working knowledge of Defence standards (Def-Stans, JSPs, SCIDA etc.)


• Solid Project delivery experience within a fast-moving working environment.
