Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Wimborne is seeking a Systems Engineer to join the project team, bringing experience in safety and systems engineering. You will scope and support bid work, develop high quality documentation, and mentor junior staff while adhering to safety standards and project processes.

The role focuses on safety systems engineering in a regulated environment with emphasis on requirements management and formal design reviews. On-site in Wimborne, UK.

Qualifications

  • Degree (or equivalent) in electrical/electronic engineering.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with membership (or working towards) would be an advantage.
  • Experience in safety/systems engineering or design and in a safety regulated industry.
  • Knowledge of safety system design per IEC 61508 or similar standards (IEC 61513, IEC 61226).
  • Good knowledge of systems engineering processes, standards and methodologies (IEC 15288, UML).
  • Good knowledge of DOORS for requirements management.

Responsibilities

  • Support the safety/systems engineering aspects of projects.
  • Draft and estimate the systems engineering aspects of bid work.
  • Apply systems engineering practice on projects.
  • Generate and maintain high quality systems documentation and gain formal review approval for release.
  • Use systems engineering tools for requirements management and design modelling.
  • Represent project systems engineering to the project or customer community.
  • Mentor less-experienced team members on systems engineering matters.
  • Support other engineering or related disciplines as required.
  • Contribute to ongoing development and improvement of engineering/business processes.

Job description

Systems Engineer

As a Systems Engineer, you will operate as a key member of the project team bringing experience in safety/systems engineering to the team. You will also support bid work by scoping the systems engineering tasks for the proposed work.

Location : Wimborne, UK

Your Challenge:
  • Supporting the safety/systems engineering aspects of projects
  • Drafting and estimating the systems engineering aspects of bid work
  • Applying appropriate systems engineering practice on project
  • Generating and maintaining high quality systems documentation and gaining formal review approval for release
  • Use of systems engineering tools for requirements management, design modelling etc
  • Supporting representations of project systems engineering to the project or customer community
  • Advising or mentoring less-experienced team members, including graduates or apprentices, on systems engineering matters
  • Supporting other engineering or related disciplines as required, e.g. design, production or test
  • Contribution to ongoing development and improvement of engineering/business processes
  • Any other relevant duties as and when required
What You Bring:
  • Degree (or equivalent) qualified engineer, preferably in electrical/electronic engineering
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with membership (or working towards membership) of a relevant institution would be an advantage
  • Experience of safety/systems engineering or design and in a safety regulated industry
  • Knowledge of safety system design in accordance with IEC 61508 or similar safety standards (IEC 61513, IEC 61226)
  • Good knowledge of systems engineering processes, standards and methodologies (e.g., IEC 15288, UML)
  • Good knowledge of DOORS for requirements management
