Job summary

Martin-Baker Aircraft Company Ltd. in Denham seeks a Systems Engineer to shape life-saving aerospace technology across the product lifecycle, collaborating with Systems, Software and Electronics engineers to deliver robust, integrated solutions.

You will translate stakeholder needs into detailed requirements, support design reviews, verifications and TRA/airworthiness activities, contributing to safety, quality and continuous improvement within a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with complex engineering systems and lifecycle requirements.
• Aerospace/defence or regulated environments experience (MIL-STD/UK Defence Standards).
• Knowledge of SysML, MBSE, multi-body systems and scripting tools desirable.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and planning abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management with proactive collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Apply systems engineering methods across the product lifecycle from requirements to qualification.
• Translate stakeholder needs into clear, traceable requirements and detailed specifications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for system design, modelling and artefacts.
• Support verification, reviews and provide technical guidance during projects.
• Identify interdependencies and contribute to airworthiness, quality and safety.
• Supervise colleagues as needed and support engineering travel and department efficiency.

The Opportunity

As a Systems Engineer, you’ll join our Systems Engineering Group, working alongside Systems, Software and Electronics Engineers to deliver robust, integrated engineering solutions.

You’ll apply systems engineering methods across the product lifecycle, helping to capture and analyse stakeholder needs, develop and maintain requirements, and produce detailed system and subsystem specifications that guide multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

This is an opportunity to work on complex aerospace programmes where understanding the interaction between different systems, disciplines and requirements is critical. You’ll contribute to design, modelling, verification and technical reviews, while developing your experience across the wider systems engineering lifecycle.

You’ll also play an active role in the continuous improvement of our engineering processes, helping to improve product quality, safety and business efficiency.

What You’ll Do

• Apply systems engineering methods and processes throughout the product lifecycle, from requirements capture and analysis through to design, integration and qualification.
• Translate stakeholder needs into clear, structured and traceable requirements, developing detailed subsystem requirements and design specifications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support system design, implementation, modelling and the development of engineering artefacts.
• Support verification, technical and design reviews throughout project phases, providing technical advice and domain expertise through clear written and verbal communication.
• Identify complex interdependencies, apply structured problem-solving, and contribute to product airworthiness, quality, safety and continuous improvement.
• Support and supervise colleagues where appropriate, undertake required engineering duties and business travel, and contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Engineering Department.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience working on complex engineering systems, including requirements definition, decomposition, verification, traceability and multidisciplinary system design.
• Experience in aerospace, defence or regulated environments, with knowledge of MIL-STD/UK Defence Standards, project phases and engineering technical reviews.
• Knowledge of SysML, MBSE, multi-body systems, software/scripting tools, and ejection seat modelling and design principles is desirable.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning and organisational skills, with sound engineering judgement and the ability to manage multiple activities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with a proactive, collaborative approach, willingness to learn and take ownership, and commitment to Martin-Baker value.
