Job summary

QinetiQ Group plc is seeking a Systems Engineer to support aerospace projects and programmes across air platforms, including UAS. You will lead small projects, drive integrated technical activities, and work within a Systems/Project Engineering team to deliver outputs meeting customer requirements.

Essential qualifications include aerospace-related learning to HNC level or equivalent, with an engineering degree desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring delivery of integrated technical activities to contracted time, cost and quality.
  • Ensuring a consistent approach to the integration of engineering outputs to meet project objectives.
  • Ensuring consistency of technical processes, methods and tools in accordance with the QinetiQ BMS.
  • Assisting with bids and estimates, generation of Technical Delivery Plans and work breakdown structures.
  • Assisting with identification of project technical risks and management with the Project Manager.
  • Capture and analysis of customer requirements.
  • Working knowledge of general Systems Engineering principles.
  • Aerospace or related engineering background.
  • Technical experience throughout the air vehicle life cycle.
  • Knowledge of aircraft certification and systems design.
  • Ability to make sound judgements on technical solutions.

Job description

As a Systems Engineer, you'll provide systems engineering support to QinetiQ aerospace projects and programmes covering a wide range of air platforms including UAS. The role will involve a range of aerospace technologies and domains from avionic systems through flight performance to design modifications. The role holder will be required to technically lead small projects ensuring application of correct processes, methods and tools. Day-to-day, you'll work as a member of a Systems/Project Engineering team, assisting with the leadership and management of engineering and technical teams to deliver aerospace domain engineering outputs that meet the customer's requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring delivery of integrated technical activities to contracted time, cost and quality
  • Ensuring a consistent approach to the integration of engineering outputs to meet the overall project objectives
  • Ensuring consistency of technical processes, methods and tools in accordance with the QinetiQ BMS to meet customer requirements
  • Assisting with the coordination of bids and estimates, generation of Technical Delivery Plans and work breakdown structures to support project cost plans and bids
  • Assisting with the identification of project technical risks and assisting the Project Manager with the management of them
  • Effective capture and analysis of customer requirements
  • Working knowledge of general Systems Engineering principles
  • Aerospace or related engineering background
  • Technical experience throughout the air vehicle life cycle
  • Knowledge of aircraft certification and systems design
  • Ability to make sound judgements on technical solutions
  • Excellent people management and communication skills

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Amesbury (Boscombe Down) site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
