Role and responsibilities


  • Lead on the development of system architectures for new projects, coordinating inputs from HQ engineering, UK Sales and the UK Projects team

  • Define and describe the Technical Solution during bids. Support cost estimation

  • Develop innovative solutions to technical problems small and large, researching them yourself or pulling in experts as appropriate

  • Lead Design Reviews with internal and external stakeholders

  • Document the system design and maintain using approved corporate design tools, coordinating with Configuration Management as required

  • Creation and management of Interface Control Documents

  • Ensure alignment of 3rd party sub-system elements, coordinating engineering activities appropriately

  • Develop and improve local design processes

  • Actively contribute to and/or lead defined aspects of the project to achieve optimal balance between requirements, schedule and cost

  • Participate in tests, trials and verification of system designs

  • Contribute as required to the resolution of in-service system issues

  • Collaborate with UK Sales, the customer and HQ Sales and Engineering teams to support system and product development roadmaps, ensuring UK interests are represented appropriately

  • The ability to work with customers to develop great technical solutions to their complex engineering problems

  • Capable of developing high quality documentation and engineering artefacts

  • Able to identify the need for, and conduct trade studies to evaluate different potential solutions

  • Experience in Integration, Verification and Validation activities, including Test Planning, Test Conduct and Reporting

  • Excellent general written and verbal communications skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Maths, Physics, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience
