Banner Lane seeks a Systems Architect to drive requirements from concept to manufacture across telecoms, defence and power/electrification markets. You will report to the Chief Engineer and guide verification activities while collaborating with product management, business development and customers.
The role requires broad engineering depth, with a focus on manufacturability, system architecture, and cross-disciplinary teamwork to shape next-generation solutions.
Our client is an established, high-technology electronics and engineering business based in Shrivenham, Wiltshire. The organisation designs and manufactures bespoke and off-the-shelf product lines across telecommunications, defence, and power/electrification markets, working with product management, business development, and a varied customer base to shape and deliver its next generation of high-performance products.
The business combines a big-business mentality with a small-business culture. A close-knit engineering team where people are given genuine opportunity to develop their careers and specialisms.
Systems Architects engage with the problem space at the earliest possible stage - whether that's responding to product management on new roadmap ideas, supporting business development on invitations to tender, or working directly with customers to capture requirements. The role drives the capture and maturation of product specifications from initial concept through to manufacture.
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Systems Architect decomposes system and sub-system requirements, underpinning collaboration with the wider development team. The role guides technical activity, reviews team designs, and orchestrates the verification activities required to evidence the organisation's solutions across telecommunications, custom defence, and power/electrification product lines.
Technical depth in a specific engineering discipline is a defining characteristic of this role, but the organisation equally values the ability to operate across the full breadth of engineering. The successful candidate will bring creativity and a passion for continuous improvement, a can-do attitude focused on completing tasks, and strong collaborative relationships built on trust and respect. They will listen to different perspectives to evaluate, shape, or persuade technical direction, enjoy teaching and sharing knowledge while learning from others, and consistently put company goals ahead of individual or team interests.
Due to the nature of the products our client is working on and the Security clearance needed - Sole British Nationals are required for this role.
