A little more about your role…

The purpose of the role is to support the Business Rates Team, ensuring that it is fit for purpose and fully future-proofed. The role will involve overseeing two team members, working with the wider Rating team to understand the improvements and developments which need to be made to the system, making it suitable for access by clients, and into a market-leading model, which is appropriate for use going forward. The role will be heavily data-led with a good need for understanding the Rating business and the back end of the database, and providing both technical and strategic advice going forward. It will also include the necessity to provide specifications for development and recommendations to the Operations Board.

The role would cover the following areas:

  1. To continue to maintain and develop the GLHIMS database within the GL Hearn business, working with both colleagues and external service providers to ensure that the system is fit for purpose.
  2. To work with the team’s Valuers to identify requirements to develop the system further, according to both client and VOA (Valuation Office Agency) requirements.
  3. To support the Operations Board in identifying strategies for GLHIMS and other databases going forward.

The role will cover the following activities:

  1. Internal Collaboration: Collaborate with different teams, including those in the wider WSP business as well as the Rating team, to co-ordinate the delivery of the Rating team’s systems.
  2. Reporting and Analysis: Work with the Valuers to identify process changes that are required for both clients and VOA requirements, keeping abreast of changes in legislation, regulations, and industry developments that impact the Rating Team's business. Regularly report back to the Valuers and Ops Board as to progress made.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

  • Practical development and SQL experience, with a good knowledge of Business Rates.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse market trends, financial data, and industry insights to inform business strategies.
  • Relationship Building: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels, internally and externally.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Thrives in a fast-paced and changing environment, with the ability to adapt to evolving business priorities and market conditions.
  • Results-Oriented: Proven ability to meet and exceed business development targets, with a focus on driving revenue growth and delivering exceptional client service.
  • IT Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and wider systems for pipeline management and reporting.
