Job description

The Opportunity

  • Management of technical accounting system routines, for example chart of accounts structure and closure of systems accounting periods.
  • Investigating and correcting any financial system errors or anomalies.
  • Ensuring data accuracy and integrity with other integrated systems, for example EPoS/Sales system.
  • Development and implementation of processes in response to changes in policy and House of Lords requirements.
  • Assisting the efficiency of the department by performing other duties and supporting projects as directed by the team.

What You Need

  • Technical knowledge: Excellent digital skills, managing and analysing databases and reporting, including experience of accounting systems.
  • Analytical skills and problem solving: Strong analytical skills with experience of analysing data; the ability to identify problems and risks and propose solutions, seeking guidance and providing constructive challenge where appropriate.
  • Communication skills: Clear and accurate oral, written and online communications skills, including the ability to explain complex issues to non-technical colleagues, making them easy to understand.
  • Accuracy and delivering at pace: A high level of attention to detail with the ability to work accurately and effectively to meet demanding deadlines whilst remaining calm and focussed.
  • Team working: Building and maintaining effective working relationships and networks. Ability to work effectively and flexibly as part of a small team within the Finance Department whilst upholding the values of equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • The ability to pass security clearance, backed by the right to work in the UK.

About The Team

The Finance Department, under the leadership of the Finance Director, has circa 30 staff. It provides financial services to the House of Lords, including financial management and reporting, payment services and staff payroll.
