Job summary

Elysium Healthcare is seeking a Systemic Family Therapist to join the Therapies Team at Dunnock View. This 16-hour-per-week role involves delivering systemic family psychotherapy, conducting assessments, and supporting families and service users with complex mental health needs.

You will train staff, participate in staff development, and contribute to multidisciplinary risk management and care planning. DBS clearance and UKCP registration are required.

Qualifications

• Formal Family Therapist qualification required.
• Experience delivering systemic psychotherapy with adults and families.
• Registration with UKCP and DBS disclosure are expected.
• Experience in risk assessment and crisis planning within mental health.

Responsibilities

• Deliver systemic family psychotherapy to service users and families.
• Conduct systemic assessments and interventions for patients admitted to the ward.
• Provide staff training, consultations and reflective practice sessions.
• Contribute to risk management, care planning and MDT decision-making.
• Manage a complex caseload and facilitate carer support groups where appropriate.
• Support service development and supervision within the Therapies Team.

Job description

With a formal Family Therapist qualification, you know one or two things about delivering great healthcare. From a friendly face, to providing professional support, you will join Dunnock View where you will feel valued and supported. Working 16 hours a week, you will work alongside the dedicated team at Dunnock View -providing treatment for men and women who may have suffered trauma and are affected by mental health disorders. You will be responsible for the delivery of systemic family psychotherapy within the service, providing systemic assessments and interventions to service users who have been admitted to the ward and their families or support systems. You will support staff development in the service, and will take on a role in training, consultations and staff support, as well as providing systemic input into the multidisciplinary team. You will receive regular clinical and professional supervision and will be supported to continue developing your clinical and leadership skills as part of your ongoing career development. You will join a proactive and enthusiastic Therapies Team, as well as having access to a strong network of psychological therapists across Elysium Healthcare. There are excellent opportunities for professional development within the role. You will have experience and knowledge in carrying a service users caseload, including assessing service users with complex needs, supporting families and care plans and designing and delivering specialist psychological treatment for men and women who may have suffered trauma and are affected by mental health disorders.

As a Systemic Family Therapist, you will be:

• All applications must have a formal Family Therapist qualification.
• Providing highly-skilled systemic interventions for the families of patients with severe, complex and persistent mental health problems, learning difficulties and/or developmental problems.
• Providing in-depth risk-assessments of patients who are at risk to themselves and to be able to formulate both short-term and long-term crisis planning.
• Providing evidence-based and formulation-driven systemic perspectives to multidisciplinary risk management, care planning and decision-making.
• Managing a complex caseload as the family therapist working within a multidisciplinary team, as well as facilitating groups where appropriate, such as carer support groups.
• Monitoring clinical progress through regular reviews of systemic treatment.
• Engaging and working with service users with a range of mental health needs and developmental difficulties, drawing upon your wealth of theoretical and practical knowledge.
• Supporting staff development through the provision of training, consultation, formulation meetings and reflective practice sessions.
• Contributing to service developments within the Therapies Team and wider service.
  Completed a Qualifying course in Systemic Psychotherapy at Master's or doctorate level, accredited by the AFT
• Registration with UKCP
• Experience working with adults and their families presenting with complex mental health needs, high‑risk behaviours and neurodevelopmental conditions in a mental health setting.

A trauma-informed care model is used to focus on length of stay to make sure individuals are able to move as quickly and safely as possible from the service to the most appropriate and least restrictive environment for them. Service users could be suffering from Acute mental illness, Psychosis, Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Personality Disorder, Dual diagnosis, Self-harm, Substance misuse issues.
