Job Description:
This role would suit a Lead/Principal Safety Engineer who:
- Is comfortable working across the whole system and able to quickly develop an understanding of complex interactions and dependencies
- Is familiar with aircraft-level safety regulations and analysis
- Is motivated to work closely with multi-disciplined teams to get down into the detail
- Is capable of leading the delivery of system safety artefacts ensuring other teams/systems/aircraft level dependencies are identified and shared
Successful applicants will be able to:
- Provide specialist safety advice to the SDA, to support their authorization of the Product safety, in accordance with Company processes
- Ensure that safety activities conducted on the Programme, within the scope of the TDP Systems, follow the plan described in the safety management plan and that the analysis is complete and correct.
- Identify and analyse intrinsic hazards, including mitigation to reduce the residual safety risks to an ALARP level for the ISANKE and ICS TDP system
- Identify and analyse functional hazards, including mitigation to reduce the residual safety risks to an ALARP level for the ISANKE and ICS TDP system
- Elicit ISANKE and ICS TDP safety requirements and flow these down to the appropriate level
- Review individual TDP Subsystem System safety analysis and incorporate the outcomes in the integrated ISANKE and ICS analysis.
- Review aircraft level safety analysis and ensure it aligns with ISANKE and ICS TDP Systems safety analysis
- Document the integrated ISANKE and ICS TDP Systems safety assessment as described in the safety management plan.
- Present a summary of the integrated ISANKE and ICS TDP Systems safety assessment at the ISANKE and ICS TDP Design Reviews.
What we need from you:
You really must have:
- Experience of safety analysis of complex systems in a safety-critical industry
- Experience across a number of engineering lifecycle phases
- Experience in leading and delivering a safety work package across multiple teams
- Experience with ARP4754B, ARP4761A, RTCA DO-254, or DO-178C (not essential)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience of working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders of varying seniorities
- A passion for promoting and improving safety culture
It would be nice, but not essential, if you had:
- Experience with a high degree of design complexity and significant levels of uncertainty
- Knowledge of lasers, radar systems, and/or sensors and defensive aids systems
- Awareness of Information Security
- Involvement in cross-industry safety initiatives, such as via the Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET) or Safety-Critical Systems Club (SCSC)
Experience with any of the following tools will be a plus:
