Job description

Quantinuum is seeking to hire a System Reliability Engineer for our Cambridge-based cloud platform, Quantinuum Nexus. Our team aims to support quantum researchers at every stage of an experiment, making working on quantum computers as easy as sending an email.

Responsibilities

1. Manage architecture, performance, security, and cost of managed Kubernetes instances such as Amazon EKS.
2. Utilize tools like Helm, Karpenter, and k9s to meet operational goals.
3. Collect logs, traces, and metrics via Opentelemetry; analyze data using AWS products like X-Ray and CloudWatch.
4. Monitor Nexus performance and reliability, and guide improvements based on data insights.
5. Report, monitor, and diagnose issues and outages.
6. Read and understand production code to assist in troubleshooting.
7. Collaborate with development teams to resolve issues swiftly.

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
• Experience collecting logs, traces, and metrics for distributed systems.
• Proficiency with AWS CloudWatch to identify bugs and performance issues.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
• Experience working on cloud-based systems where uptime and reliability are critical.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with PostgreSQL.
• Experience in continuous deployment environments.
• Debugging and triaging issues in code.
• Professional experience with Python.
• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry standards and SDKs.
