Job summary

MBDA UK is seeking a System of Systems engineer in Bristol to support the integration of the Land Ceptor product into a broader Ground Based Air Defence system. The role focuses on defining requirements, architecture, and verification plans while coordinating with customers and industrial partners.

The candidate will work in a hybrid setting with three days on-site, and may qualify for relocation assistance. BPSS checks apply and security clearance is required.

  • Excellent communication skills to convey technical information to stakeholders.

Job description

The Land Ceptor System of Systems organisation is growing fast in order to support delivery of export contracts and evolution of the product to enhance the capabilities for our customers. As a System of Systems engineer your primary objective is to support the functional integration of the Land Ceptor product into a wider Ground Based Air Defence Weapon System context. Salary: Circa £45,000 - £56,000 depending on experience Location: Bristol (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role) Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3 days per week on-site due to workload classification Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:
  • Working with the customer to define System of Systems Requirements including evolution paths for future development.
  • Working with the customer to define System of Systems architecture and use-cases to support development and evolution system requirements.
  • Defining System of Systems integration requirements and verification plans.
  • Conducting design and technical reviews both internally and in conjunction with the customer.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team on technical issues, queries and conflict resolution including co-ordinating responses to and from the customer and industrial partners.
What we're looking for from you:
  • Experience in developing and integrating complex systems, preferably in the defence industry
  • Strong systems thinking skills with the ability to initiate and drive trade studies
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical information to a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience developing design requirement and verification documentation, and an ability to agreeing these collaboratively with different stakeholder groups including System Design Authorities and Government organisations
  • Project engineering knowledge to be able to design and deliver work packages
  • Familiarity with system architecture tools, including DOORS and Rhapsody
