Job description

The Post Design Service System Engineer will investigate obsolescence issues and engineer solutions for replacement parts to ensure the system remains operational. You will design and commission solutions for customer-led system changes, maintain system drawings and documents, and represent the end-user’s interests while providing interface support with Border Force (the end-user).

Responsibilities include:
  1. Implement Post Design Solutions (PDS).
  2. Ensure compliance with the Engineering Change Process.
  3. Report on PDS activities to the PDS Manager.
  4. Continuously improve the delivered service.
Business Continuity
  1. Support the implementation of Business Continuity requirements.
  2. Investigate single points of expertise for knowledge transfer and capture.
  3. Manage critical documents and media items during implementation and operational phases.
  4. Maintain effective processes and procedures with the Service Desk, providing technical interface especially regarding service credits.
Technology Refresh (TR) and Obsolescence Management (OM)
  1. Ensure TR and OM requirements are maintained.
  2. Support strategies including continuous improvement planning and innovation implementation.
  3. Monitor and report on PDS performance.
  4. Engineer solutions capable of self-time management to maintain projects.
  5. Implement approved processes, controls, and tools for PDS.
  6. Support Technology Refresh strategies, including innovation.
  7. Act as interface between the end-user (Border Force) and the programme.
  8. Collaborate with stakeholders during transition management and PDS.
