Key job responsibilities

Systems Developers develop best practices, refine operational procedures, and proactively innovate. You will identify growth areas within existing frameworks, tools, and processes to enhance our testing and control systems.

Ideal candidates are autonomous, detail-oriented, and possess strong communication skills, with experience working at scale. You will be involved in all stages of the software and hardware development lifecycle: definition, planning, design, implementation, and delivery. You will lead the design and development of core features, influence system architecture, and shape the technical strategy of the product.

A day in the life

You will build products and services that ensure consistent content viewing experiences across devices worldwide, including working on custom Harness solutions for automating testing and control of AV devices via HDMI, IP, and other interfaces.

If you are passionate about creating first-class products and tools, you will have opportunities to improve the developer experience, collaborate on technical strategies, work with multiple engineering teams, experiment with new technologies, and measure outcomes.

About the team

Our Living Room organization deploys its platform to over 2000 devices, including TVs, consoles, set-top boxes, and streaming sticks. Our mission is to build infrastructure systems and testing tools to improve the SDLC for developers building applications on living room devices. We innovate with creative, scalable solutions and leverage the full Prime Video technical stack.

Minimum qualifications
  • Programming experience with Python preferred, or at least one modern language such as C++, C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Rust
  • Knowledge of IT and AV standards, including color spaces, codecs, container formats, HDMI/HDR/IP streaming protocols
  • Experience with data center infrastructure, server hardware, and distributed systems
  • Experience with networking and cloud systems for remote testing environments
  • Familiarity with AV utilities like FFmpeg and GStreamer
  • Linux experience, including provisioning, performance tuning, and OS fundamentals
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Experience in Software Engineering, DevOps, or Systems Engineering
  • Experience integrating test systems with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
  • Contributions to open-source AV tools or protocol libraries
