Job summary

Red Bull Technology invites applications for an Industrial Placement in its Vehicle design Department in Milton Keynes. The role focuses on chassis systems and PU integration, offering hands-on experience across mechanical design, materials selection and CAD work with NX.

The placement runs for one year starting summer 2027, delivering real-world racing engineering exposure. The successful candidate will work closely with designers, managers and technicians, producing engineering drawings,

Qualifications

• Candidate is an undergraduate in engineering with a strong grounding in maths, physics and mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical design of chassis and power unit installation components and related tooling, jigs and pit gear.
• Material selection, rig testing and structural sign-off.
• CAD design, CAD drafting, calculations and fault diagnosis.
• Prepare technical documentation to support designs.
• Collaborate with designers, managers, mechanics and specialists to develop solutions.

Job description

Red Bull Technology have an exciting opportunity for an Undergraduate Student to spend a year as part of our System Design department. The placement will run from summer of 2027 for one year and offer the chance to demonstrate your enthusiasm and apply your knowledge to real racing events!

Based on our Milton Keynes Campus this unique role covers a wide range of different technical areas, each demanding a high level of computer literacy and a clear understanding of the principles of mathematics, physics, and engineering. Interpersonal skills, good organisation, efficient and clear reporting will be equally valued.
Red Bull Technology is inviting candidates to apply for Industrial Placement positions within its Vehicle design Department.

Chassis Systems and PU Integration Design

The key accountabilities of this role are:

• Mechanical design of components related to chassis systems and power unit installation along with any associated tooling, pit gear and jigs.
• Be involved in material selection (metallic, polymeric, and composite), rig testing and structural sign off.
• CAD design, CAD draughting, calculations and fault diagnosis.
• The preparation of technical documentation to support your designs.
• Developing problem solving and communication skills through working closely with designers, managers, mechanics, and technical specialists from throughout the organisation.
• Following best practice as defined by the department for all activities.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• An understanding of chassis and power unit systems design (e.g. ICE installation, cooling systems, fuel system, electrical installation, exhausts etc..).
• An understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles and calculation.
• Knowledge of Microsoft office and Teams.
• A good understanding of 3D CAD. Siemens NX is preferable but not essential.
• Understanding of and ability to produce engineering drawings.
• A passion for Mechanical Engineering

The placement will be for 1 year, starting in the summer of 2027.
